WHO WE ARE
OUR BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Tina Scott
Director
I am a registered nurse working for the NHS and a SEND Mummy. I have lived the experience of seeing my child face constant discrimination simply for having a disability, and it has fueled my passion to create change. I am determined to improve SEND provisions and make sure that parents and carers feel heard, supported and part of a welcoming community.
With the Sunflower SEND Hub, I am committed to building a safe space where our sunflowers and their families can be themselves without fear of judgement or exclusion.

Sophie Nash
Director
I am a SEN Mum to two boys. My full time job is an LSA in a SEN school, and I also Face Paint in my spare time.
I feel strongly that our sunflower's and their parents should have a safe space where they can be themselves.

Dani
Chair of the Board / Designated Safeguarding Lead
I am a Mummy of two and the director of a therapeutic alternative provision. I was a special needs teacher for ten years previous to this.
I am passionate about the well being of young people, teaching people to look beyond behaviours to see the child, and the importance of innovating education - moving away from the current one-size-fits-all model.

Chris Price
Treasurer
I have recently retired after spending forty years in the building design industry. I was asked to be the treasurer of the amazing Sunflower SEND Hub, and I am happy to help in any way that I can.
This is a cause close to my heart as I have two brilliant great-nephews who have autism - they are now fourteen and sixteen years of age, and I have watched my niece have to fight and struggle for everything that they have needed.

Charley Goodings
SEND Expert / Healthcare Professional
I am a hospital Security Officer within the NHS, who also has ten years of experience with SEND families and children throughout previous roles as a Paediatric Dietetic Assistant, Carer, and Resources for Autism Support Worker. I also grew up with a close relative who has Autism, ADHD and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, as well as both of my brother-in-law's having Fragile X.
It is incredibly important to me that the Sunflower Hub provides the understanding and support that our Sunflower's really need - something that my family didn't have the opportunity to have when we were younger. I look forward to the hub making a difference in many lives!

Sam Searle
SEND Expert / Healthcare Professional
As a registered Paediatric Nurse and Health Visitor, I have a profound passion for supporting children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. I am driven by a desire to advocate for their individual needs, promote their inclusion, and empower their families to navigate the challenges and celebrate the successes along the way.

Jordan Pinker
SEND Expert
I am a primary school SENDCo and SEND Expert within the Sunflower SEND Hub. I have a passion for ensuring that children and young people receive the support and care that they need, and are able to reach their full potential.
I have also been diagnosed with Autism myself, and therefore feel deeply about making sure that children with SEND feel empowered and like they belong. My aim is to make the world a little more inclusive - one step at a time.

Alice Hill
SEND Expert / Healthcare Professional
I am a Speech and Language Therapist, both in the NHS and in private practice. I am also a mother to a neurodivergent child.
I am passionate about supporting and advocating for neurodivergent children, especially when it comes to their communication.

Janette Godfrey
SEND Expert / Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
Up until my retirement in 2024, I was a manager and SENDCo at a local playgroup for 32 years. During this time, I traveled the difficult journey with many families, from identifying needs through to assessment. I have written and secured EHCP's often with a fight and supported children and their parents onto their next steps throughout a sensitive transition.
My role has been an absolute privilege and is why I am committed to our amazing Sunflower Hub so that I can continue to offer help and support wherever I can.

Amy Churcher
Fundraiser
I am a mother to a beautiful boy with SEND. I have witnessed and experienced the failures in the system towards supporting children and adults with special educational needs and development.
I was a nursery teacher before I became a parent, and I worked with children with special needs.
I am one of the fundraiser's at the Sunflower SEND Hub. I want to spread the word around to everyone that needs to hear our stories, and to help make a difference for our children. I want parents to know that they are not alone, and there are people here to help.

Sarah Abbott
SEND Expert
I am a qualified teacher, SENCO and work as an Inclusion Partner.
My youngest son has a diagnosis of Autism, therefore I have a passion for helping children, especially those with SEND, feel as though they are safe, respected and valued.
I am honoured to be a part of the Sunflower Hub's inspirational work and hope to offer support, guidance and a listening ear to families, carers and educational settings.

Aimee Brown
Director
I have been working in a SEND Hub as a teaching assistant for three years now, and I have found my passion in life.
I am so excited to be a part of Sunflower SEND Hub and being able to provide a space for children and families to come together and be supported.

Hayley McCarthy
Parent Advocate
I am a proud Mum to two wonderful Sunflower's. I joined the Sunflower's SEND Hub because I believe that no parent or carer should ever feel alone in their journey. The challenges of raising a child with SEND can be overwhelming, but together we can support each other, share experiences and make a real difference.
This isn't just about fighting for change - it's about creating a better, brighter future for our children. Being a Mum to a SEND child shouldn't feel like a constant battle, and I'm determined to help make this journey easier and more positive for everyone.

Kayleigh Gilbey
Parent Advocate
I am a Mum to a wonderful little boy who has been diagnosed with Autism. I am very familiar with the minefield that is SEN, and all of the blockades we come across as parents when battling the system to get the help and support that our children need.
I joined the Sunflower SEND Hub as I want to help as much as I can, and encourage other SEND parents not to give up, be a listening ear, and remind them that they are not alone in this mad life that we all lead.

Emily Craig
Parent Advocate
I am a Mum to three children, one of which has been diagnosed with Autism, and one awaiting assessment for ASD.
I used to work at the local GP surgery as a Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist, however now I am a stay at home Mum.
I am passionate about helping parents to navigate the complicated world of SEND, as from experience I know that it can be very daunting and isolating.

Donna Allen
Parent Advocate
I am a full-time Mum and carer to a SN son who has Cerebral Palsy and Autism. As a parent advocate, my main aim is to provide a voice for children with limited/no mobility.
I feel that we need more safe and fun places for us to take our special Sunflower babies. We also need a safe place where we, as SEND parents, can be open and support each other through the struggles that we go through each day.
